Minutes of the BSF Tennis Committee meeting held at 7pm on Friday 14th March 2018 at St Margaret’s Church Hall.

Present: Messrs. Broughton, Caswell, Maslivec, Pearson (in the chair), Prince, Ms K Abbott, Mrs V Browne & Ms L Cartwright. Mr. Al-Chalabi arrived later.

Apologies for absence: Messrs. Nuttall, Taylor, Mrs S Francis, Ms K Hosker & Ms L Perry.

Minutes of the last meeting: These had been circulated and were agreed.

Matters Arising: None

Correspondence: One team had complained about its position in the league structure for 2018. The Chairman had replied to explain the situation.

Leagues: The men’s and junior fixtures had gone to the printers and the mixed was almost ready to go.

Calendar 2018: Minor amendments were made to the cup dates of the mixed and junior leagues.

On-line Card Submission and Results Submission: The General Secretary had been trialling some home grown systems. We would have to see just how many would attempt an on-line card submission. It was said that the method of submitting results by Match Secretaries could be time consuming. The General Secretary said he would have another think about it. The general idea was that this could relieve the BSF Secretary of some of the work in the future. It was stressed however that this was merely a trial and would be run alongside the existing system with Match Cards also being submitted as usual.

Winter League: There was one more week left. There had been problems with the supply of balls in January. The bubble at David Lloyd Bolton was down at the weekend but was now back up. The system had been a lot smoother under the new system of teams paying up-front as opposed to weekly collections, so this would continue next year.

Treasurer: The treasurer said that although she could not make tonight’s meeting she would be available for Registration Night.

Handbook: The club details were posted on line. We would give players one final email before sending for printing.

Tournament: There is a meeting scheduled for mid-April. The Vice-Chairman had reported that the Tournament form would be ready in about a week.

Presentation Evening: The Holiday In has been booked and contracts signed. The General Secretary had finally managed to make contact with the Albert Halls booking representative. It was agreed that we would book the Albert Halls for 2019.

Dunlop Slazenger: The Vice-Chairman had reported that he was waiting to hear from Dunlop.

AOB: There was a short discussion on the Mixed League set-up. There was also a discussion as to whether the league should become involved when a player transferred from one club to another leaving behind outstanding fees. There is an intention to arrange a meeting of club chairmen.

Date and time of collection of handbooks and payment of player fees etc: Friday 20th April 7.30pm, St Margaret’s Church, Lonsdale Road, Bolton BL1 4PW. The next Committee meeting would be Friday 11th of May 7pm at the same venue.
